Principal Dunn Update - May 19, 2024
Posted on 05/19/2024
Dear CCE Community,

The CCE-SIPAT Fiesta was a joyful event, it was so nice to gather with incoming, current, and former students and family members. Thank you to SIPAT for all your coordination and support organizing the traditional school gathering in May!

It has been the talk of the town that CCE will be officially opening a Transitional Kindergarten class in 2024-25, and it is true! There is quite a lot of interest in the parent community, and we are very excited to grow our Spanish Immersion model in an early childhood education setting. For more information regarding CCE TK and Kindergarten Information and Registration please visit the website or contact [email protected]

Let’s enjoy the next 13 days of school to the fullest!

Sra. Dunn

CCE 2024 Great Reading Challenge, 4th-6th Grades

We are looking for volunteers to help with the 2024 Great Reading Challenge. Students who have chosen to participate formed groups of 4-6 and read six books. Now the groups will come together to answer quiz questions about the books. The group that answers the most questions correctly will be the 2024 Great Reading Challenge winners! Volunteers will be asked to read and verify written answers from students and help the judges (our librarians – Sra. Jonas & Sra. Haines) keep track of correct answers. If you have any questions about volunteering, please email Petrina Jonas at [email protected]

We will need eight 4th grade parent/guardian volunteers on Tuesday, May 28th: 8:45-10:00 a.m.

We will need fourteen 5th/6th grade parent/guardian volunteers on Wednesday, May 29th, 8:45-10:00 a.m.

Reminders

DJUSD 2024-25 Academic Calendar

I encourage our families to review the upcoming school year DJUSD calendar to plan and make future arrangements for leave or travel to avoid chronic absenteeism. Notice: First Day of School, MONDAY, August 26, 2024.

Also know that if you have other students who attend a Senior High and/or Middle School in our district, the calendar “Teacher Workday” dates are slightly different and do not always align with Elementary Schools. We encourage families to consider Short-Term Independent Study Plans for next year starting September 3, 2024, if you know your child will be missing 3-days and/or up to 10 consecutive days for leave or travel reasons.

Blood Drive at CCE: Wednesday, May 29

Donate blood in honor of Micah and Oli this Wednesday, May 29, from 2:00-6:00p.m. inside the Music Room at our new MPR. To make an appointment call Vitalant at (877)-258-4825 and mention Blood Drive Code SMFT129.

Redwood Park Issues

Redwood Park neighbors, caregivers and staff have observed and reported recent behaviors and incidents at Redwood Park occurring between the 2:30-3:30 p.m. dismissal times. CCE has great relationships with our neighbors around the perimeter of our campus and neighborhood streets, and I respectfully ask that CARES be demonstrated by our students and supervised by their caregivers before and after school to maintain friendly relations with our neighbors, many of whom are former families and parents of CCE alumni.
