Principal Dunn Update: February 8, 2021.
Posted on 02/08/2021
Greetings César Chávez Families,

Our District National Youth Truth Family Survey is now available! Your participation in this yearly survey is important in helping our CCE school committees in gathering data to improve our school goals: 21st Century Learning, Closing the Achievement Gap and Safe & Inclusive Schools. You may access the survey here.

Family survey

In addition to Youth Truth Family Survey, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the families who participated in our DJUSD Parent Survey to determine Extra-Curricular Activities. We are excited to welcome more CCE students back to our campus to offer school connection and socio-emotional enrichment opportunities. Your valuable ideas have been gathered from this survey. Volunteers in our community are encouraged to reach out to me if you are interested in leading a CCE Activity in coordination with DJUSD. I deeply appreciate the many volunteers who have helped our school program in Distance Learning thus far, and I look forward to this innovative Extra-Curricular Activity effort!

In community,

Sra. Dunn

Highlights

CCE Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a fun, and engaging competition that normally occurs in Spring to encourage students to read in Spanish and English and work together to become book experts! 4th - 6th grade students can volunteer to be on their classroom Battle of the Books team. Each team will read 4-6 books (teams will split up the work – each student will read 2-3 titles), study the books together in smaller groups (via zoom meetings or on a shared Google Doc), and prepare to answer questions about the book. The classroom team who answers the most questions correctly during the “Battle” will win the “Battle of the Books.”

Sign-up forms are found in the CCE Canvas Library page are due on February 12th. Books will be sent home in April and the Battle of the Books competition will happen in mid-late May.
