This week, CCE will be holding their annual Kindergarten Information Night with prospective Kindergarten Families on Tuesday, February 8, 6:00-7:30 p.m. via Zoom. Also, there is so much to acknowledge and celebrate in February! César Chávez Elementary students and staff have been engaging in rich activities that align with our Graduate Profile.

Black history month

Black History Month

The CCE Library Team, Sra. Jonas and Sra. Burgess, have been actively working to build and support the DJUSD Board of Education approved Ethnic Studies program recommendation at the elementary school level. They have been working with our teachers and librarians across the district to fill our library shelves and curriculum units with Children’s Literature written by Ethnic Studies authors.

In addition, DJUSD School Board of Education voted unanimously December 17, 2021 to approve a resolution celebrating Juneteenth Independence Day as a local DJUSD holiday.

CCE 1st grade students and teachers participated in Lunar New Year parade on our campus to honor the rise of the second new moon after the winter solstice. Salón 16, 17 y 18 decorated our school hallways with a colorful procession.

This week our students will be recognizing our cherished Sra. Flores, Srta. Sandoval, Sra. Doro, and Sra. Johnson. We are grateful for the roles they play in our district and school community and our students and staff are excited to make this week a very special one!

Each week CCE students are acknowledged for demonstrating their CARES! Students receive a Certificate of Recognition, a picture with the Principal and are entered into a raffle for PBIS prizes! Vitalant Blood Drive

Much appreciation to Agustin Antunez, Jennifer Canvasser and Daniela Loyola for their coordination and contribution to support the February 2 Vitalant Blood Drive honoring Micah & Oli, as well as all the community members who donated a pint of blood to save up to three lives.

MPR Construction Making Progress!

CCE Welcomed special visitors, Trustee Joe DiNunzio, Associate Superintendent Matt Best and Executive Director of Capital Operations, David Burke, to our MPR Construction site. Progress is going quite well and the students and staff notice more additions each week.

DJUSD Rapid Test Distribution

DJUSD is distributing home rapid tests to DJUSD students and staff who recently tested positive for COVID-19 and currently in quarantine until supplies last. Drive-Through location is at the district office, 526 B St., 3:45 – 5:30 p.m. Staff and Student ID Card, including proof of positive test within 7 days need to present to receive one kit.

DJUSD Parent COVID-19 Support Line Available!

To provide support to the DJUSD COVID-19 response team, a group of parents (CCE – Darci Silbaugh) have created a DJUSD Parent COVID-19 Support Line to supplement district efforts to provide on-call, individualized support for DJUSD parents. The parents are trained staff members who will not provide medical advice, but can support our parents on a variety of topics such as: isolation and quarantine, testing FAQ’s, masking, and other general COVID-19 support. Vaccination Cards

Many thanks to our families who provided our office staff with your child’s vaccination card. We are accepting copies or screen shots of enrolled CCE student vaccination cards in the office or via email to Daniela Loyola ([email protected]). If you have children enrolled at any other DJUSD school, you may email copies of their cards to Janeett Rosales-Flores ([email protected]).
