Principal Dunn Update: January 10, 2021.
Posted on 01/10/2021
Dear CCE Community,
I hope this message finds you and your families healthy and safe! As the California Blueprint for a Safer Economy is updated daily, Yolo County still remains in the Purple Tier. DJUSD public schools are currently open for small cohorts of students who are disproportionately impacted by the pandemic and experiencing challenges accessing their education. Our CCE small cohort started this week and we anticipate more students joining this month.
DJUSD and CCE are ensuring State and County Health & Safety Guidelines and Protocols are being followed to accommodate students and staff working and learning on campus. During the school day M-F 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. limited admittance on school grounds is necessary. If you are on campus, please pay attention to our new school signage that indicate the areas that are restricted to only DJUSD employees and students enrolled in the cohorts at this time. Thank you for your cooperation with this!

Our school community appreciates how we are working together to reduce the spread of the virus and recommend taking advantage of the special UC Davis partnership with the City of Davis and DJUSD called Healthy Davis Together. Please visit their website at www.healthydavistogether.org to learn more and to register for free COVID-19 testing. The best way to ensure the safety of the children and staff in our schools is to lower the community level of spread.

In community,

Sra. Dunn

Highlights

1st Annual Read-A-Thon Success

Thank you to SIPAT and CCE Teachers and students for your encouragement and participation in our first school wide Read-A-Thon. Half of the proceeds will be allocated for the CCE Library to cover their Spanish book collection. Please give a “Howl Out” to parents Jennifer Charles and Robin Erbacher for their lead on this effort. ¡Sí se puede lecotres, familias, maestros y personel!

Dear all,

Congratulations on a successful first Read-a-Thon! Given all of the constraints of doing this virtually and during a busy time of the year, it had great results! Thank you to Jennifer, Robin, and the entire committee for all of your hard work coordinating this.

Offering to split the proceeds between the library and SIPAT is very generous and definitely helps support our purchase of additional Spanish books as well as other library needs.

We greatly appreciate your support!

Sincerely,

Petrina and Rachel

Responsive Classroom Training

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and development has been a primary focus and goal at CCE. This past Wednesday, Teachers and Staff took part in our first of three Responsive Classroom Trainings for 2021. Responsive Classroom is a research based teaching approach that gives teachers concrete practices for promoting academic engagement, building a positive community, and teaching a developmentally appropriate way. We are grateful to the 2019 Auction Team lead by, Amber Husten and Heather Martin, and all the CCE families who helped fund our SEL Professional Development this past school year!
