Principal Dunn Update - January 30, 2022
Posted on 01/30/2022

Dear César Chávez Elementary Community,

I’d like to express my gratitude to our CCE parents and guardians for your proactive support by following the evolving California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Yolo County Public Health (YCPH) contact tracing protocols and revisions for schools guidance.  Our staff truly appreciates the cooperation and communication you provided us with during the month of January.  With your help, we were able to help each other reduce transmission cases and quarantine for students and staff on campus.

CCE staff will continue to follow the DJUSD guidelines that align with CDPH and CDC:

  • Following public health recommendations to ensure that the person with COVID-19 follows instructions for isolation and remains away from others until they can safely return to school.
  • Identify groups who were within 6 ft indoors for at least 15-min with 24 hrs of someone with COVID-19.
  • Groups remain in school, are required to test, and remain symptom free.
  • Student Testing expectation is test within 3-5 days of exposure, or weekly.

With deep appreciation for your CARES,

Sra. Dunn

Kindness week

La semana de bondad

Our beloved School counselor, Sra. Flores, shared many wonderful activities to our teachers and staff to celebrate our CCE Kindness week.   Teacher participated in classroom activities that involved Children’s Literature, CARES and SEL lessons that practice kindness including a schoolwide paperchain, representing 500 examples our students practice kindness.  Look out for the paper chains that will decorate our school next week!

 art projects

CCE Art Projects Support Academic and Social-Emotional Development

Our amazing CCE teachers know that the arts are associated to important gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, verbal skills, and social-emotional development.  Since the start of 2022, K-6 teachers have been designing their lessons that imbed creative and meaningful art projects in all subject matter.  Stimulation of the art experience is helping us create a classroom and school environment that supports our DJUSD Graduate Profile, such as honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. and learning how to make papyrus like the Egyptians.

DJUSD Parent COVID-19 Support Line Available!

To provide support to the DJUSD COVID-19 response team, a group of parents (CCE – Darci Silbaugh) have created a DJUSD Parent COVID-19 Support Line to supplement district efforts to provide on-call, individualized support for DJUSD parents.  The parents are trained staff members who will not provide medical advice, but can support our parents on a variety of topics such as:  isolation and quarantine, testing FAQ’s, masking, and other general COVID-19 support.  You can call or text (530) 500-3086 or email at [email protected] for more help and information.  Hay voluntarios que hablan Español.
