¡Gracias! Gratitude to SIPAT and CCE Library Events!

Thank you for supporting the recent CCE Library fundraiser events!  The Fall Scholastic Book Fair was a big success, and the students had a lot of fun shopping for books.  Thank you to our SIPAT Book Fair coordinator, Liz Crossley, for organizing this huge event.  Students have also been very excited to participate in the Read-A-Thon and earn prizes.  Thank you to the SIPAT Read-A-Thon Committee: Jennifer Charles, Juliet, Nicole, & Anel for your efforts to support our library and promote reading!

Looking for Online e-books and Audio Books for your student?

Here are some resources:

  1. DJUSD and the Yolo County Library have thousands of e-books and audio books available for students (including Spanish titles)! Students can access books from the DJUSD e-book and audio collection as well as the Yolo County Library collection by using the SORA app (available to download on a phone or tablet) or by accessing and having your child log-in using their school login information (school email and password).  Once you are logged into Clever, scroll down to Library Resources and click on Sora.
  2. The California Department of Education has partnered with Renaissance myON to give all K-12 students in California free access to thousands of online books (in English and Spanish) for reading this winter break (access will be free until 1/31/22).  Use this information to access this free resource:

Attention families of students in Grades 4-6!

Every year during library time, we read students the picture book nominees for the California Young Reader Medal and our students as well as students all across CA vote for their favorite.  Students in grades 4-6 can also vote in the intermediate chapter book category.  Voting is optional, but if your student would like to vote in this category, they must independently read all 3 nominated books by March 31st.  There is a long waitlist to check these books out from our school library so if your student is interested in participating you may want to consider checking them out from the public library or reading them as an e-book through SORA.  Here are the titles:

2021-2022 California Young Reader Medal Intermediate Chapter Book Nominees:

  • Wishtree by Katherine Applegate
  • The Remarkable Journey of Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart
  • Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga
