Principal Dunn Update - January 9, 2022
Posted on 01/09/2022

Dear CCE Families and Guardians,

It has been a very busy start of 2022 at César Chávez Elementary. Thanks to all the students and families for their CARES to help decrease the spread of the omicron variant of COVID. Our students and staff may test at any DJUSD campus this week since our regular testing schedule at CCE is on Fridays. Please access this link here to view the DJUSD testing locations and schedules, directions for signing up for Healthy Davis Together and the DJUSD Minor COVID Testing Waivers. As news and communications come through daily, I recommend visiting the DJUSD COVID 19 Information website to find up to date information about our district and schools.

On Friday, CCE sent home rapid antigen test kits and instructions with your students. Below are links to the instructions in English and Spanish.

DJUSD is also implementing rapid antigen tests for students or staff who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms while on campus. The test is administered by a school nurse and requires a quick, painless swab of the front of the nose. Students experiencing symptoms, which can be as mild as a headache, stomachache, or fatigue, will be sent home and required to quarantine for 10 days unless the student provides a negative COVID-19 saliva (PCR) test and symptoms are improving. Complete information on DJUSD illness screening can be found here in English and Spanish.

Thank you all again for keeping our school community healthy and safe! With our Sí se puede spirit we will make it through this surge, and we look forward to planning many activities and fieldtrips for the Spring. Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,

Sra. Dunn

super lobos

Super Lobos this Week!

Each week CCE students are acknowledged for demonstrating their CARES! Students receive a Certificate of Recognition, a picture with the Principal and are entered into a raffle for PBIS prizes! Congratulations to: Anderson Glass, Carina Ledesma, Erick Estrada, Nicolas Olivera, Katherine Gish, Tai, Nguyen, Stella Seiler, Miqel Villaran, Maya Thomas, Simone Cowgill and Willow McClelland-Parulekar.

¡Gracias! Gratitude to SIPAT’s Read-A-Thon Committee and Lobo Readers!

Thank you to the SIPAT Read-A-Thon Committee: Jennifer Charles, Juliet, Nicole, & Anel for your efforts to support our library and promote reading! Classes with the most submitted Reading Logs were: Sra. McLemore’s Kinders, Sra. Manzanedo’s First Graders, Sra. Garibay’s Second Graders, Sra. Post’s Third Graders, Sra. Medina’s Fourth Graders, Sr. Solorio’s Fifth Graders and Sra. McClintock’s Sixth Graders.

¡Lobo Líderes, fenomenal!

To support our PBIS CARES program we have 91 Third to Sixth Grade students who have signed up to serve as Lobo Leaders (Lobo Líderes). Lobo Líderes assist students and staff with school routines such as hallway transitions, hand sanitizing younger students hands in the Cafeteria, Assist office with office packages, and Recycling bins to name a few! Our student leaders are doing a great job demonstrating and fostering CARES for our future Lobo Líderes!

Updates

Yolo County Public Health (YCPH) Updated Guidance

New guidance regarding isolation and quarantine duration and re-entry criteria to reconcile the latest guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The change in protocol, which DJUSD has instituted, includes the following changes:

  • The student’s symptoms must be resolving and they must be fever free for 24 hours prior to their return to school.
  • A parent/guardian must bring the student to the school office and present a picture of a negative rapid antigen test and complete an attestation form confirming their student has a negative test result.
  • The student will be asked to double-mask or wear a KN95 or N95 from day 6 through 10 for all activities on school campuses.

You can review the updated guidance and decision tree from Yolo County Public Health.

CCE Parent Volunteer “Pause” in Classrooms

We are taking a pause on indoor parent volunteers until the surge decreases. Interns and DJUSD student volunteers can resume their volunteer hours indoors. I encourage our parents to continue helping outdoors to support our Tuesday and Thursday Running Club and Lobos Activos in our school gardens and, or during our PE time.

Important Reminders

Vaccination Cards

Many thanks to our families who provided our office staff with your child’s vaccination card. We are accepting copies or screen shots of enrolled CCE student vaccination cards in the office or via email to Daniela Loyola ([email protected]). If you have children enrolled at any other DJUSD school, you may email copies of their cards to Janeett Rosales-Flores ([email protected]).
