Principal Dunn Update August 27, 2020
Posted on 08/27/2020

Dear CCE Community,

We are approaching our Fall mid-term this week! I applaud our teachers for doing the impossible from a system that was never designed to accomplish what they are now being asked to do…to ensure all students learn at high levels in Distance Learning! Remember, as long as we continue to actively support one another and our school by being kind to ourselves and those we serve, while setting up new systems and supports to sustain wellness and learning we will persevere and progress a Spanish Immersion school community.

With Creative Courage,

Sra. Dunn

Highlights

SIPAT Círculo Coordinators

Felisa Yang and Kalani Cullison are SUPER LOBOS and we thank you both for the successful synchronization and provision of our 1st-4th grade Círculo Program Book Exchange. We appreciate you and the many parent volunteers who receive and exchange books each Tuesday evening, so thank you for supporting our Spanish Emergent and Fluent Readers!

Updates
Student Assessments

CCE students are beginning to receive quizzes/tests and quick checks for understanding to inform teachers about what their students’ grade-level learning needs are. We respectfully ask that parents refrain from assisting their child/children with any assessment that is assigned to by, or is initiated live with, their classroom teacher(s). Authentic assessment data is needed for teachers to guide their teaching methods, feedback and focused instruction in the essential content and skills. Thank you!

Imagine Learning –Español K-5

Imagine Learning –Español teaches foundation literacy skills through games and activities to accelerate Spanish reading and speaking proficiency. The adaptive instruction moves according to each individual student’s needs. Spanish speaking cultures from around the world are celebrated.

Introduction & Instructions

K-3 Students will sign on through the CLEVER portal that many CCE classrooms currently use. At some point the week of 9/28, a CLEVER button link may appear on Canvas courses for easy access for classrooms new to CLEVER.
Once in Clever, Imagine Learning-Español is launched automatically by clicking on the BLUE ROBOT. (If this does not happen automatically, check that student is signed on using their school google account). Click on the GREEN SQUARE labeled Imagine -Español.

The very first time a student logs on they will take a placement test that determines where in the program a student begins. Students should take the placement independently to ensure receiving instruction that fits their current skills.

In preparation for pick-up:

  • Make and post a sign in your car window with your children’s last name(s), grade(s) and teacher(s) name clearly written on it. Place this sign on the front passenger dashboard or window of your car so our staff can easily read it.

All items assembled will have been quarantined for up to 72 hours. You will receive these items in a bag labeled with student’s last name, first name:

  • Essential materials and curriculum for your child/children to support Distance Learning

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Have your sign with the student's Last Name ready to present to a staff member on the curbside of the 3-min Loading Zone.
  • When directed, open the trunk or door of your car for a staff member to deliver a bag that contains your child’s curriculum/materials.

If you arrive at school on foot or bike, please form a line (maintaining six-feet of distance from other families) at the designated spots for pick up or drop off.

We ask that everyone:
