Principal Dunn Update - December 13, 2020.
Posted on 12/13/2020
Greetings César Chávez Community,

This message comes with much anticipation that our school community is taking safe measures that follow our Regional Stay Home Order right now. Our District and César Chávez Elementary have been working towards our Reopening Readiness Goals to ensure our campus is safe to open for small cohorts to return (Phase II) in January including preparation for Phase III when the conditions permit.

It is so important that together we reduce the community infection rates by following our Yolo County and State guidelines to safeguard our students, families and staff. I am so grateful to you all for making sure this past Tuesday’s Curbside Materials was a safe and successful exchange! This event would not be possible without the coordination and help of: Lynn Alvarez, Jennifer Kam, Daniel Loyola, Mitchell Navarro, Susan Perez and Kadee Russ. Los Lobos give each of you a “Howl-Out”.

Sincerest Regards,

Sra. Dunn

Highlights
CA Seal of Biliteracy

State Seal of Biliteracy (SSB)

The SSB is an award that graduating seniors can earn who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in one or more languages in addition to English. This SSB award takes the form of a gold insignia which is affixed to awarded seniors’ high school diplomas and is a statement of biliteracy accomplishment for future employers and for college admissions. 41 out of our 83 Spanish Immersion Students from the CCE Class of 2013-14 received their SBB in 2020!

The state of California continues to be the leader in promoting multilingualism; DJUSD directly contributed to this important recognition as we continue to see a rise in the number of students earning the State Seal. Last year, 231 students in our district earned the State Seal of Biliteracy. Our goal is to continue to see these numbers increase! Below you will find the DJUSD website link where the online application and updated flyer can be found. In the flyer, you will find the eligibility requirements to receive the Seal of Biliteracy (updated with latest Covid-19 CAASPP waiver). Please note, online applications are due no later than February 12, 2021.
