It was quite a week to practice
Adaptability at CCE starting with the rainstorms on Monday, a false fire alarm in the new MPR on Tuesday, and the safety alerts received in the middle of the night on Thursday. I really want you to know that the staff and students were brilliant all week, and I appreciate you all for your patience and grace having received much communication about the measures our district takes on safety of our schools.
While these past week’s issues have resolved--our MPR roof is fixed and the safety issue at DSHS and Holmes JH detained—the staff and I will continue to be alert and responsive regarding the safety on our campus. Please note that October 10 – October 14 is our scheduled semana de seguridad, Safety Week, where we practice one emergency drill each day. Our Bike Davis coordinators will visit our campus to promote bike safety with 2nd graders, and the Davis Fire Department will be visiting 1st and 2nd graders on the black top for a Fire prevention lesson.
This upcoming week is la
semana de responsibilidad, Responsibility Week, where together we review academic and community responsibilities, which we hope to demonstrate with each other at school as well as at home.

Highlights
New MPR Ribbon Cutting
It was wonderful to “officially” open and celebrate the opening of our new MPR at César Chávez Elementary School with our Davis School Board Trustees, DJUSD Administrators and City Leaders. Thank you to the voters of the Measure M Bond, CCE students, staff, and families who attended!

CCE Strings and Band Start this Week!

If your student misses school, it is the responsibility of the parent to contact the CCE Office Attendance Assistant at (530) 757-5490 or email
[email protected]. If you forget to call or email in the absence, a DJUSD robo call will automatically be delivered via telephone call to the primary contact(s) phone number (s). If we do not receive a message regarding a missed school day by the primary contact(s), the absence will be coded as “unverified” and can result in a truancy absence if parent/guardian does not notify the CCE Office Team.
