November is here!
What a beautiful week we had with colder fall temperatures, spooky-playful costumes, a bit of rain, and remembrance for loved ones during Día de Muertos. So much appreciation to our teachers and parents for organizing the festive and celebratory activities for our students! It is wonderful to experience community and joy at school again.
Fall 2022 Youth Truth Family Survey is Open!
Your feedback and ideas help us improve our school and our District. Please consider taking this survey here which takes approximately 15 minutes to complete in one sitting. It is available in eight languages and can be accessed on phones with browsers, laptops, desktops and Chromebooks. Only 17 out of 303 (6%) households have completed the survey so your participation is appreciated!
Grateful,
Sra. Dunn
Highlights

Halloween Parade Fun
It was fantastic to see our students, staff, and families at our traditional Halloween Parade on Monday. The day was filled with thematic learning units which our students enjoyed. Mil gracias to our parent-guardian community for ensuring the Costume Guidelines were adhered to.

Día de Muertos
Having this cultural, traditional event celebrated on Wednesday, November 2 was evermore special at César Chávez Elementary School. Many thanks for the sponsorship of our school’s PTA, Spanish Immersion Parent And Teacher (SIPAT), and parent coordinators, Melissa Moreno and Georgia Wade for all their efforts in reviving and creating this celebration in our new MPR. The parent volunteers and the Davis Senior High School Club, Latinos Unidos, volunteered at various stations such as, face painting, Mexican board games like Lotería, ofrendas for our gardens, and offering hot chocolate with pan muerto. Special guests also included local band Bomb Fried Rice including a local Danzantes dance group.

Native American Heritage Month
Throughout November, teachers dedicate class time to teaching about Native American peoples through primary Native sources, contemporary voices, and perspectives of actual Native Americans, consistent with our California Department of Education History and Social Science Framework.
