I hope this email finds you all refreshed after a four-day weekend!

Teachers have been preparing for our November Conferences and are ready to discuss the important information about your child’s/children’s academic, social-emotional progress this trimester. Teachers will present the DJUSD Elementary Standards Based Report Card as a context for your conversation, including the learner behaviors related to our DJUSD Graduate Profile.

You know your child better than anyone, and we recommend that our parents share the areas your child struggles with academically or socially prior to the conference, as well as techniques or strategies you have found to be successful in supporting your child. This will help your teacher prepare for the conversation, collect work samples or compile ideas collaboratively with you.

Super Lobos this Week!

Each week CCE students are acknowledged for demonstrating their CARES! Students receive a Certificate of Recognition, a picture with the Principal and are entered into a raffle for PBIS prizes! Congratulations to: Kai Mitloehner, Kelen Hayes, Daniella Plesha, Marlo Price, Matthew Callahan, Ilona Parker, Allison Chang, Olivia Storms, Quetzal Unzueta, Grace Logan and Aidan Thomas!

Elementary Parent Teacher Conferences Next Week:

Mon., November 15 – Fri., November 19

  • Please review this letter (English & Spanish)
  • 1st – 6th Grades dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • AM and PM Kinder schedule remains the same
  • All conferences, otherwise arranged, will be held virtually on Zoom or phone.
  • Update your DJUSD Parent Portal for any new emergency contacts with family or friends who will be picking up your student during this early dismissal week. Any new transportation arrangements must be communicated to our school office to dismiss our students, Office phone (530) 757-5490
  • Parents/Guardians should locate our student Lost and Found items located at the front of the school this week.
  • HDT Testing will continue at CCE Friday, November 19 for students and staff.

CCE Read-A-Thon December 7-13th

SIPAT will continue its 2nd Annual Read-A-Thon to support our CCE Library and SIPAT Programs. Last year we raised $5,556 and half of the proceeds overed the Spanish Book Purchases. There will be class prizes in addition to raffle prizes from local vendors, such as Avid Reader, Upper Crust Bakery, Baskin-Robbins, In and Out, and much more. Last year class prize recipients: Kinder-Velasquez, 1st-Manzanedo, 3rd Bugsch, 4th-6th Sra. McClintock.

book fair
The Scholastic Book Fair will be back on campus the week of November 15th!

Shopping will be modified this year to adhere to Covid safety guidelines. There will be no shopping at recess or before/after school. The book fair will only be open for student shopping during an assigned time for each class. Teachers will let parent/guardians know what day their students will be shopping at the fair. Each grade level will be able to send students who missed the chance to purchase at their assigned time back to the fair on Thursday, 11/18.

The easiest way for students to shop is by using a Scholastic e-wallet. This is a safe and cashless way for students to purchase items. We HIGHLY encourage parents/guardians to set up an e-wallet at https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bookfairs/parent-how-it-works.html?fairID=4944178

If you prefer for your student to pay using cash, please send the money to school in bag or other secure way labeled with their name and teacher’s name.

School Site Council Meets: Wednesday, November 17

Please join us for monthly CCE School Site Council Meeting, 4:00-5:30 p.m., Zoom. We will reviewing and voting on our 2021-22 Comprehensive Safety Plan, reviewing our Governance Night Topics and previewing the CCE LCAP Budget.

¡Lobos Activos – Tuesdays and Thursdays at CCE!
Hilary Henricson and our Library Team, Petrina Jonas and Rachel Burgess, have joined to build our Tuesday and Thursday Lobos Activos grade-level rotations so students can participate in PE/Playworks and Library Time in the afternoon. Are next phase is to include a third rotation with our Environmental Education Program leaders to allow students to spend time in the school gardens and campus beautification projects on these days. Lobos Activos needs more parent volunteers to make our Enrichment Program run smoothly for our students and staff.
