Greetings CCE Community,
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Our school families and staff had the opportunity to attend a fun evening on Saturday, March 4 for the Night of Stars SIPAT Gala Dinner and Auction at the Davis Veterans Memorial Center. Sending a grand “howl-out” to our SIPAT Dinner & Auction Committee, all our donors, parent volunteers, and attendees for making this fun event memorable and super successful –
¡Sí se puede!
Our March “spring forward” Daylight Savings Time will take place next weekend,
Sunday, March 12, 02:00 AM. Thank you for noting this time change on your calendars!
Best regards,
Sra. Dunn

Attendance Matters
The months of February and March at CCE present with higher volumes of student
absences due to illness, as well as
Short-Term Independent Study (STIS). Therefore, we ask families to help out by contacting our front office staff and teachers
each day your child will not be present at school due to illness or other reasons. In addition,
our office staff and teachers respectfully ask that you provide us at least two weeks or more in advance when initiating the STIS Request form to provide the teachers ample time to create and organize materials for your child during their STIS. You may pick up a STIS form in the front office and you may access more
DJUSD Attendance Initiative information on our district website.
Clarification on Attendance Letters Mailed Home
Letters for Truancy and Excessive Excused Absences (EEA) were mailed in February to all DJUSD families. Education Code requires notification when students are either truant or have an excessive number of excused absences even if for EEA absences when the school has been notified of the reason for the absences. Please don’t panic, this is just a notification. I have been contacting many households regarding the letters and hope to reach all by the end of this week. You may also call our office Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. if you specifically have questions about attendance tracking this 2023-24 school year.
