CCE Families,
How quickly the first month of 2023 has passed, and now the Winter Season is presenting with a milder climate…visions of tree buds and bulbs are just around the corner! There are many field trips ahead of us this month until the school year. If you would like to volunteer as a Parent Driver, we thank you in advance for submitting the following DJUSD Parent Driver form at your earliest convenience - Thank you!

Celebrating History and Contributions
In February, CCE will be acknowledging National African American History Month. The CCE Library Team, Sra. Jonas and Srta. Yulieth, have been actively working to build and support the DJUSD Board of Education Resolution No. 39-23 and the district approved Ethnic Studies program recommendation at the elementary school level. They have been working with our teachers and librarians across the district to fill our library shelves and curriculum units with Children’s Literature written by Ethnic Studies authors. In addition, DJUSD School Board of Education voted unanimously December 17, 2021 to approve a resolution celebrating Juneteenth Independence Day as a local DJUSD holiday.

National School Counselor Appreciation Week
National School Counselor Week is celebrated on February 6-10! Sra. Ortiz is our new school counselor this year, and our students and staff will be honoring her caring and positive contributions. In addition our CCE community values the DJUSD Resolution NO. 38-23 by recognizing the Prevention and Wellness Managers, and the DJUSD K-12 Comprehensive School Counseling Team with cards and gifts of gratitude.
Attendance Matters in February
The month of February at CCE presents with higher volumes of student absences due to illness, as well as Short-Term Independent Study (STIS). Therefore, we ask families to help out by contacting our front office staff and teachers each day your child will not be present at school due to illness or other reasons. In addition, our office staff and teachers respectfully ask that you provide us at least two weeks or more in advance when initiating the STIS Request form to provide the teachers ample time to create and organize materials for your child during their STIS. You may pick up a STIS form in the front office and you may access more DJUSD Attendance Initiative information on our district website.
Wishing you all well this month!
Sra. Dunn
