Principal Dunn Update - January 23, 2022
Posted on 01/23/2022

CCE Families,

This is a respectful and direct reminder to consider your motor vehicle safety when driving to school especially during our drop off morning hours. Last week around 8:15 a.m., a cyclist was nearly hit by a driver who had dropped off a student at our loading zone. Many parents, staff and a few students on bikes witnessed this and justifiably are nervous that it could have been one of them or one of our students or parents. Please be aware of the Anderson Road speed limit, and our school’s 3-min loading zone along a very busy bicycle and vehicle thoroughfare southbound towards the university.

The City of Davis has an excellent Street Smarts Program that outlines suggested routes to school that are safe. DJUSD also supports the partnership with the city known as Safe Routes to Schools. Our district leaders work with the City annually to survey our transportation accessibility and needs. We appreciate you calling our school office if you witness any potential transportation hazards or violations.

Thank you for your help to make travel to and from school as safe as possible.

Sincerely,

Sra. Dunn

Yolo County Public Health (YCPH) Updated Guidance

New guidance regarding isolation and quarantine duration and re-entry criteria to reconcile the latest guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The change in protocol, which DJUSD has instituted, includes the following changes:

  • The student’s symptoms must be resolving and they must be fever free for 24 hours prior to their return to school.
  • A parent/guardian must bring the student to the school office and present a picture of a negative rapid antigen test and complete an attestation form confirming their student has a negative test result.
  • The student will be asked to double-mask or wear a KN95 or N95 from day 6 through 10 for all activities on school campuses.

You can review the updated guidance and decision tree from Yolo County Public Health.
