Principal Dunn Update - January 16, 2022
Posted on 01/16/2022

Greetings CCE Community,

During this national holiday, Monday, January 17, we acknowledge the integrity of Martin Luther King, Jr. who dedicated his life to achieving equality and justice for Americans of all colors. He made brave sacrifices and inspired many with his activism for civil rights.

As our nation’s children returned to school during a surge of a highly contagious variant, Omicron, the challenges remain to ensure that in-person instruction is the best and safest learning environment for our elementary students. The health and education of our 522 César Chávez elementary students and 60 staff members and school community is a priority. At CCE we will adapt and resile with this dynamic situation when our staffing issues and our health guidance continue to evolve.

We appreciate your grace, hopefulness and attention to our during this time. My aim is to provide you information below that will clarify the direction and guidance to help us get through this COVID wave.

Sí se puede,

Sra. Dunn

Yolo County Public Health (YCPH) Updated Guidance

New guidance regarding isolation and quarantine duration and re-entry criteria to reconcile the latest guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The change in protocol, which DJUSD has instituted, includes the following changes:

  • The student’s symptoms must be resolving and they must be fever free for 24 hours prior to their return to school.
  • A parent/guardian must bring the student to the school office and present a picture of a negative rapid antigen test and complete an attestation form confirming their student has a negative test result.
  • The student will be asked to double-mask or wear a KN95 or N95 from day 6 through 10 for all activities on school campuses.

You can review the updated guidance and decision tree from Yolo County Public Health.
