Principal Dunn Update - February 27, 2022
Posted on 02/27/2022

Dear CCE Families,

As we commence our Third Trimester for the 2021-22 school year, I’m sure you are beginning to think of what class or teacher your student(s) will be in for the next school year – as are we. I would like to share with you the process by which our team creates classroom groupings.

The first step is that our team of teachers, specialists, and special education staff, collaborate to create balanced class groupings. A variety of factors are considered to create class lists including:

  • Student academic, social, and behavioral strengths, and challenges
  • Peer groupings
  • Support services that classrooms require including reading, EL and special education

The team and administration collaborate to create these groups for the next level.

Please note that assigning an individual child to a specific teacher is not a part of this process. We believe that all students can thrive in every classroom at César Chávez Elementary School. It is our policy, as it is for most schools in Davis, to not accept or promise to honor parent requests for specific teachers. As always, if you have any questions about this process, or any school-related concerns, please contact your teacher(s) and administrator for support.

Thank you,

Sra. Dunn

Students learned that depending on date formats, palindromic dates can be rare and fun. The next palindromic date will be 3 February 2030!

DJUSD Updated Outdoor Mask Guidance

The outdoor mask mandate was lifted on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, as our campus has met the requisite 50% vaccination rate Dr. Sisson recommends. We are still requesting parents to submit your student(s) COVID vaccine record as soon as possible. Students and staff may choose to continue to wear their masks outdoors if they wish.
