Dear César Chávez Elementary Community,

Kindergarten registration is just around the corner. Younger siblings of CCE enrolled students, and any student eligible to attend DJUSD may register in our Spanish Language Immersion Program, regardless of language background. Students of varying abilities and needs contribute to the diversity of the community. Parents should understand that becoming bilingual (exhibiting cognitive, academic and linguistic benefits of immersion) takes approximately seven years in an intense learning environment. It is therefore desirable for students to participate through at least the sixth grade.

Kindergarten students are chosen by lottery system. If there is space, students in grades first through sixth must go through an assessment process conducted at the school site. Additional information can be found here or by contacting our César Chávez Elementary Office Staff directly.

Parents/guardians of children eligible for Fall 2020 enrollment must complete Pre-Enrollment prior to attending Kindergarten Registration. Bring a copy of the completed pre-enrollment document along with all required documents listed below. Computers and DJUSD forms will be available for those without access to a computer.

2020-21 School Year Registration
Registration will take place at César Chávez on Monday, March 9, 2020 from 8:00 am-2:00 pm. Bring your student for a brief Spanish assessment if you want your child to have native speaker priority. Please bring a printed copy of your completed pre-enrollment as well as the DJUSD Required Registration Documents.

Please spread the word!

Sra. Dunn

Sra. Dunn

Lacrosse Clinic at CCE

Last month, CCE parent, Guillermo Garcia, a new board member for the Davis Lacrosse Association (DLA), and Assistant Coach of the DHS Lacrosse Varsity Team, Mikie Schlosser, hosted lacrosse clinics at CCE during 3rd-6th grade PE classes to expose students to the wonderful sport of lacrosse. The clinics in each PE class were run by Mikie Schlosser. Mikie played Division I lacrosse at the University of Michigan and is now a professional lacrosse player and league All-Star for the Denver Outlaws. Even I participated in PE with my own wooden lacrosse stick and participated with the students, too! It felt great to see the students learn and try something new, and for me it brought back memories of playing for the Women’s UC Davis Lacrosse Team 26 years ago.
