¡Lo hicimos en la Escuela Primaria César Chávez!

It is hard to believe that our last day of school will be this Thursday, June 10. Having a safe return to school has brought so much joy to us this Spring! I wholeheartedly thank you all for the support and patience you have shown these past ten months. It was a school year like no other. Our school community is dedicated to our Spanish Immersion Program, reinforcing our 5-core values CARES (Cooperación, Adaptabilidad, Responsibilidad, Empatía y Seguridad) and sustaining our Sí se puede spirit and for these, and a million more, we are truly grateful for your belief and support at César Chávez Elementary.
There are many of you whom I owe an expression of gratitude and hope that we continue working together for many years to come. Our school community came together with the help and support of our Parents, Volunteers and Staff. A special “Howl-Out” to our SIPAT President, Vice President and Executive Board who collaborated with our school Climate Committee Co-Chairs, English Language Advisory Committee Parents and our School Site Council Members through action-oriented events such as Círculo and school wide Curbside Pick-Ups, Traditional Celebrations with our virtual Día de Muertos, School Community Events like Pasaporte Cultural and Ethnic Studies Forum, and Fundraising Events such as Read-A-Thon, Bike Swap and Move-A-Thon.
¡Gracias, Maestr@s! I am deeply grateful to our dedicated and caring Educators and Specialists who provided engaging, interactive learning experiences for our students during Distance Learning. Each one of them created a caring, inclusive classroom community by prioritizing the development of social-emotional learning and skills needed to thrive. Our staff dedicated hours on end to preparing and implementing synchronous lessons and asynchronous videos. And this Spring, they continued to support both the Distance Learning and In-Person Models simultaneously for our students!
Many thanks to our Campus and Office Staff as well who committed many hours behind the scenes to maintain connections and the operations of our school. They worked tirelessly to prepare a safe return and warm welcoming for staff, students and families. Enormous “Howl-Outs” to our School Nurse, Natalie Johnson, who helped us all understand health and safety protocols and to our School Counselor who supported our CCE Students and their families in the most compassionate ways.
¡Felicitaciones, Los Lobos! I want to congratulate all students at César Chávez Elementary. Our emerging bilingual students worked hard, persevered and resiled due to the interpersonal learning and relationships they established with their peers, teachers, and the encouragement and love from their parents, grandparents and caregivers during this school year. I wish you all a safe and wonderful time with family and friends, reading and exploring together this summer!
I look forward to seeing you all in-person in August! To those who are leaving us to new places, I wish you all the best!!!

Con cariño,

Sra. Dunn
