November National Native American Heritage Month

On August 15, 2019, the Davis Joint Unified School District Board of Education proclaimed November as Native American Heritage Month in Davis. In addition, Native American Heritage Month is officially recognized nationwide by the United States Federal Government. Throughout November, teachers dedicate class time to teaching about Native American peoples through primary Native sources, contemporary voices, and perspectives of actual Native Americans, consistent with our California Department of Education History and Social Science Framework. Many relevant and appropriate resources are available on the District website’s Multicultural Resources page.
