Dear Chavez Orchestra Families,
I'm so proud of your children! What a beautiful job they did last night! The hard work of preparation, the coolest masters of ceremonies - Elsie and Alba (!!!!) emceeing the event, the most fantastic and interesting solos (!!!), the amazing Mariachi Puente, wonderful high school students who helped tune the entire orchestra and the tireless Davis Schools Orchestral Music Association, (DSOMA), who provided the programs and greeted everyone outside the MPR! If you hadn't had the privilege of meeting our community parent booster, DSOMA folks, please check out the website and all of the wonderful work they do: http://dsoma.org

What's next?
- If you missed the concert and have a district instrument to turn in, those are due now. Please leave the instruments with the school secretary in the office and let me know.
- 6th graders, if you continue into 7th gr orchestra, you're in good hands with Ms. Hernandez at Emerson, Mr. Brucker at Harper, and Mr. Moreno at Holmes. Please know you can always crash any and all of my concerts. 🙂
As I reflect, I keep thinking about many more things we could have learned. But once-a-week lessons are limiting and so I'm setting all of those aside for next school year. It has been a very fun and full year! I can't wait to make more musical memories with your amazing children!
- Below is the enrollment form for the next school year if your 5th grader is sold out on their instrument. (You will notice that 4th-grade strings are back and it's all because of this year's group engagement and success. Thank you, students!)

- Parents, again, many thanks for all you do! If you have any pictures from the concert that you wouldn't mind having posted in our music room, please print or email me. I'd love to have those memories in the class if the kids ever visit. 🙂
Musically yours,
- Lydia Cooley
