The Yolo County Summer Reading Challenge, “Color our World”, is now until August 15! You can sign up at any public library and can take advantage of this free way to encourage your child to become a lifelong reader. Children also have access to free, weekly special events at all Yolo Library Branches.
Sign up your rising 1^st-3^rd grader for our CCE Summer Círculo program. We need parent volunteers to support this summer Spanish reading program, so watch for information coming soon about how to help with Spanish book circulation in the summer.
Common Sense Media has wonderful media resources for TK-12^th grade

Looking for audio books and de-books for summer reading? Check out Sora! DJUSD students have access to a large collection of e-books and audio books in both Spanish and English on the Sora website or app. To access Sora, students can log-in via Clever using their DJUSD login and password. Or go to www.soraapp.com. If asked to enter the name of your school, please enter Davis Joint Unified School District. Once logged in, students will be able to “add a library” and select Yolo County library to access the county library Sora collection as well all thorough the same website/app.
Writing! Pen pals, comic strips, vacation postcards, and journal writing are great ways to motivate students to write and illustrate their adventures, viewpoints, and creative ideas.
Math! Cooking, baking, lemonade stands help teach students real world applications to ratios, fractions, measurement and counting money…consider new summer recipes or writing shopping lists in Spanish!
Spanish vocabulary sticky notes posted around the house are always fun!
Evan-Moor Spanish/English Read & Understand workbooks.
Start a summer Bilingual Book Club with some of your students’ peers, and then have a play-date afterwards.
